Asus motherboard with single SATA drive. When installing windows it copies the files across then just as windows setup begins get the following error "Stop: 0X 0000007B"
Susect a problem with the SATA controller. Don't have the motherboard driver disk, so downloaded the SATA drivers from asus and tried loading them before setup. Get the same error.
Swapped the memory for known good RAM.
    HDD is virus free.

    Any Ideas??

I'd be 99% sure this is a problem with the Sata controller drivers, this issue wrecked my head for ages but got it going eventually . Goto the asus and download the correct drivers for the controller, press F6 I think when you booting from Xp or Win2k disk and just as its about to goto to the windows setup screen it will ask you for the Sata drivers, put in your disk and up she flew .
