I know this is borderline for the computer section of boards but i wanted to get opinions of how other people adapt their pcs to get the best playing poker. Im going buying a new pc and i was thinking of getting 2 monitors. I dont mutitable but i like to have stats, trackers, pot odds calculator etc running while playing and switching between one and the other is a pain and distracting. It would be great to have all the stats on one monitor and the game on another.

So what do you find helpful and also do i need to consider anything when buying 2 monitors, i.e graphics card etc

Im kinda stuck to buying in dell because i can get finance but if there is another store with good value id consider there. Does anyone know anywhere that sells pc systems that come with 2 monitors, i cant seem to find them on dell. I was thinking of buying the system through dell, maybe a 19" widescreen and then get another 19" widescreen through komplett as they are very cheap compared to dell

Any taughts or any other gadgets that would be useful

Whats your current setup like? Would just a bigger monitor be enough?

I was thinking of another plan, i currently use a laptop but i have a Dell Optiplex in work, its 2.4ghz just needs to be packed with ram only 256mb at the moment. Then i could leave the laptop in work and bring the Dell Desktop home for poker. I can pick up a 19" LCD widescreen off komplett.ie for €215 and the dell already has a 15" flatscreen, this would give me the 2 monitors. The only thing is would i need a graphics card upgrade or would a dell optipex already have a suitable one as standard. This would save me a fortune and leave me with extra for gadgets, what ya think

    Check out this thread.

Oh and to answer your question, do you've a slot for a second monitor on your laptop?May make things easier (and cheaper) than upgrading the other computer and all. If not, RAM is pretty cheap these days afaik so upgrading the other computer wouldn't be too much hassle I'd imagine, could post in computers and ask for a hand if you don't know what you're doing.

I bought a laptop this year (Dell) and it came ready to have another monitor attached. I didn't bother with buying one because I use it for college with a desktop at home, so I can't comment on how it would work for poker.

I just set up a 3 x 19" LCD monitor system. The best way to achive it is with Matrox's Triple-Head-To-Go. Plug your three monitors into the box and that into you CPU, a little tweaking of the resolutions and you've got yourself 3840 x 1024 to play with.

They also do a Dual-Head-To-Go which obviously does two monitors. The only fault is that you can't use it with an Intel chipset on you graphics card (or something techie like that).

The monitors cost me €230 each (didn't pay the VAT) off Dell and the Triple-Head-To-Go cost about €250.

I'll put a pic of it up on my blog tomorrow if I get a chance...

I would highly suggest getting at least 1 monitor that supports a minimum resolution of 1600x1200 if you have any intention of multi-tabling in the future that way u can fit 4 on 1 one screen for most poker sites with no overlap
