    Hi Guys,

I hope that this is the correct thread to post in.....

I have just joined ebay & was happy to be successfull in two auctions from a seller with multiple items.

I received my invoice & contacted the seller & made payment via paypal.

Contacted the seller again & received confirmation that he had received payment & had sent the goods.

However this has now been over 9 days ago - nothing received.... so I went on to ebay tonight to send a follow up mail & now get the message that he is no longer a registered user???

I have contacted paypal & issued a complaint.

Is there anything else I should be doing?

The amount is very large for me as its 510 Euro

Please help with some advice for a novice...

    Many Thanks to All

    Tanka006

Where was the item being mailed from? What method of shipping did the seller use? Did they give you a tracking number for the item?

    Hi Ruu,

Many thanks for the quick reply.

The seller was registered in the UK & was sending from the UK.

He had 7 positive comments 100% when I bid - now he has had 4 negative bringing him down to 63.60%

The link to the item is as below.....

I paid using paypal & using my AIB visa card

    Appreciate your interest

Hmm, I know you've contacted Paypal, but have you contacted eBay also?

The user was only registered on eBay for a few weeks (22 Sep 06), with a Feedback score of only 7. Not somebody I'd deal with.

Also, when you were buying, was his feedback comments public, or were they always private? He could have got as far as 7 by buying cheap items to build up his score, not necessarily from selling stuff.

Anyway, Paypal and eBay will hopefully sort out your problem. Make sure and keep us up to date.

ur best bet is with paypal really, at least if they are goin to do something they ll do it after 10 days u started the claim
with ebay it will take months before they do anything to recover someone s money

It doesn't look too good OP. Contact eBay and see if they can do anything, somehow track the user, all may be lost though.

You need to report this as an "Item Not Received", and file for PayPal buyer protection. http://pages.ebay.com/help/tp/paypal-protection.html has all the info.

You should be protected up to a value of $1000. The fact that the user is now NARU (Not A Registered User) would indicate that others have done this. In all likelihood, PayPal has frozen their account too. Regardless of the fact that it says 45 days, do this NOW. As in some cases, if the money is gone from the seller's PayPal account and they've unregistered any credit cards, PayPal can be sticky about getting you your money back.

Bottom line is that you SHOULD get your money back, but you need to act fast. You can also call PayPal and get them to expedite it.

You need to check a Seller's feedback before bidding, you need to see how long they've been selling. Remember if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. Never let the search for a "deal" get in the way of your common sense. Personally I would only purchase expensive items ESPECIALLY iPods and Mobiles from sellers who have a BuySafe seal - as BuySafe has the most rigourous seller evaluation program, and the most buyer protection. Someone who uses BuySafe is obviously a serious seller, even SquareTrade is better than nothing.
