Unless you have a waterproof camera and a life jacket, stay away from the edge!

seconded. Walking around up on the cliff after walking around the causeway is an unnerving experience. A life jacket wouldnt be much good, I'd say bring a parachute :D

I was up there pretty late in the evening, albeit when the evenings were brighter. I mostly used a 24-70 but went back and forth to a 10-20.

    Bring everything you've got :D

Lens depends entirely on what sort of shot you're going for.
I'd recommend a modernate wide angle (20mm-40mm) for the majority of the bog-standard "Causeway" shots.
I'm afraid the outcome of the shots will depend entirely upon the weather. The best time would be either first thing in the morning, or more likely (for me anyway) nearer towards sunset. But you'll have to hope to hell that it's pretty decent weather.
If you are going in the next couple of days, you should be grand. :)

Set aside some time from sunrise to about 2 hours after it... pray for clear conditions as the causeway takes a while to clear of fog/mist. If you get clear skies then you have the luck of the God's.

Worth seeing, but not worth going to see I believe.

I read somewhere over the summer that access to the causeway had been restricted as somebody had been swept away by a big wave or something. Is this still in place does anybody know?

    *takes off gloves*

How did Cork get dragged into the hick debate? *goes for the ban button*

Oh wait, I'm sure you meant Waterford instead of Cork.. Thats ok then. I'll resist the urge to edit your post into something entirely comical.

Gees, you would swear that I was giving a personal opinion rather than merely quoting a saying about the area.

Im still going to see it.... hasn't put me off :)

However... being referred to as a 'hick'... well....

/off to cry in the corner. sob sob

I was there just over 2 weeks back and even though it was very windy at the top by the center it was very calm by the stones itself. Got some great pics as shown here. Weather was weird as it was either very overcast or a bright.

Looks great mikey!! Some nice shots.

Gotta say though when saw rymus' set a few months back I added it to my list of places to go. What goes on the list stays on the list... till ticked off obviously.

Definitely meant Cork I'd say :p

Someone's obviously not familiar with the writings of Samuel Johnson I take it. That's a very old quotation about the place. Link
