    6 Max 1/2

I am playing about 150 villian covers me.

Folded around to me on the button. I make it 8 to go with 4h,6h.

Small blind folds big blind calls.. BB is a good lag and probably knows i am at it on the button. Pot 17

    Flop 5c,7c,2h.

Checked to me i bet 13. Villian flat calls Turn is a 6s.

Checked to me again i bet 40. Villian pushes ??

    Call or fold ?

    Opr

its a very draw heavy board (and although you have some of it with outs) your not getting the right pot odds to call an all in and hit an improving river card.

you must think your behind at the moment you only have a pair and not even top pair + the flat call on flop and push on turn looks very like he filled a straight.

in short you can only beat a bluff unless you hit the river.

You think Villian was calling preflop with 3,4 or 8,9 ?? And then calls a flop bet for a gutshot ?

I thought about doing this. My problem is he has check called on the flop and then checked again to me on the turn ..... Am i happy to give him a free card to the flush here ?

you said it yourself the villain is a good lag on the BB he could have any 2 cards 86 or 64 wouldnt be beyond the realm of possibility.

I don't think a good lag calls OOP with these holdings if he does hes not a good lag.

if im not mistaken you need to call something like 100 to win 300.
    thats 3:1 odds.
you have prob 8-12 outs so i think you barely have the odds to make this call but its very marginal as in i think a fold is just as good in the long run.
your mistake was the heavy bet on the turn.
    check behind here .
you say you dont wanna give him a free card to a flush but that does not apply as your giving your self a free card to improve.
you protect your hand when you have a made hand to protect but not when your on the come your self.

I understand why checking on the turn is the best play in theory with my modest holdings but i am just not sure about doing it in this situation.

First off i feel i am ahead in the hand at the moment.

Their is no chance this hand is getting checked down ..... if i check the turn and miss on the river the villian is gonna easily be able to take this pot away from me.
The villian may purely having been calling on the flop to see what i do on the turn by checking i think i make it very easy to be bluffed on the river.

    Results below

I called and was shown A4 clubs ....... club on the river.

I call here but I probablly check the turn more often than not because its one of those flops where firing another barrel rarely takes the pot down.
