My house is being built at the moment and willl be starting the first fix soon.

what I want to do is have a media center pc downstairs beside the ntl box but also have a media center pc in the bedroom and use a Network storage device. As far as i can see its the easiest way to view video and have internet access in the bedroom.

If i extended the AV signal with these lindy extenders to the bedroom (av extender) im wondering is it posssible to extend the ir blaster( as far as i know it uses a mini jack to plug it in to the receiver on the pc)with a mini jack extension cable.?

Or is there an easier way i can view the internet and tv off one central pc? in both rooms? None of the media center extenders seem to allow browsing even if i had an rf keyboard and mouse

If this is MCE we are talking about then yeah the MCE remote receiver uses a mini-jack connection for the IR blasters the receiver itself plugs in via USB to the computer.

As for routing IR signals not an area I know a lot about, tom dunne mentioned that it is possible to use one of those wireless TV senders to send the IR commands maybe that could work.

But can you retransmit the IR command though a wireless sender to the MCE IR blaster ?

This model here might work could be worth checking out as an cheap way of doing it or maybe something else on Maplins will do the job. If it doesn't work out then at least you know that plan wont work.
