Well, after shifting my drives around a few times, I booted up to find that my 200GB samsung has corrupted itself.

After messing about a bit, and viewing the sectors it seems that any and all information regarding partition tables etc is gone...completely.

What can I do to fix everything up? Thankfully, it seems all the info is still there so I suppose i could just search for files and move them to another HD and format the faulty one.

Anyone know of any handyprograms that wil actually help?

You could give Sprinrite a go.

I managed to get it fixed. Its crazy what you can get back after you think everything has gone wallop. For anyone in the future, use "Patition Table Doctor".
I tried a load of other progs including windows own disk checker, and this was the only one to fix it properly. Others showed me the wrong partitions but not much else. It even showed me previous partition I wasn't using anymore. Simple reboot and it was back in business.

EDIT: testdisk mentioned above seems to be a good free alternative (unless you have a cousin with partition table doctor ;) ) On the first scan, it found a few old partitions. I didn't get around to doing a deep scan but it did the best out of all the free stuff i tried.

gpart on most linux live disks will search the drive and look for partitions, very handy if the partition table has gone to mush
