Showed up for work this morning at 9 as this was the time I was down on the roster for. But as there is no one there to open the premises until 10 the person who filled out the roster made a mistake:( . So I started at 10. And wasted an hour.(And would have be much happier in bed sleeping)

Do I have any rights to get paid for this hour from 9 to 10 which I didnt work?

Anyone know any sites where I can check this out?

I have to fill out my hours on the time sheet tomorrow so if I have the rights to get paid for it I will put the hour down.

All replies much appreciated thanx :D

Unless it was your job to open the premises (which it wasn't) you should be paid for the hour. After all you reported for work on time. If they give you a hard time then just use something like "What if there was a power outtage?", that will shut them up.

Ask them to leave an hour early.

Doubt it. The building was locked. You were not in the building on company time. You did not "clock in" until 10am. The building opened for business at 10am not 9am.

If I was your boss you wouldn't be getting paid for that hour.

While he wasn't clocked in it was his employers fault for getting him there too early.

OP, I'm not sure if you'll get anywhere with it but I would go with TempestSabre suggestion and ask your manager if you can get an hour back off a shift at some stage. If they're never open before 10 on a Sunday they'll probably just tell you that you should have known better and checked it.

If you like the job i wouldn't bother too much trying to get a tenner off the company. if you are planning to leave anyway then i suppose you might as well, but then its still only one hour anyway.
personally the wasting an hour for no reason would annoy me more than the money.

write down for the hour. it will proably not be checked up on anyway. but i wouldn't dispute the fact too much. you could use it as a test as to hpow sound you boss is though.
