has anyone any use with them?

I bought one off eBay just to see what they are like and i dont know whether I am using it correctly. I have a Nikon D50 and am using the kit lens with it but the photos just come out black. In fact I can make out shapes or whatever I am trying to photograph through the viewfinder but nothing develops!

Is there a particular setting this is supposed to be used on? Think ill pass it on, cant see it being too healthy for the lens, might allow dust and all into it ~ any thoughts?

    P!

Are you sure you're actually getting close enough, and exposing correctly? Sounds awfully condescending but i don't mean it that bad, it's just that you might not realise just how much light you're losing when you've got it on and are that close to the subject. What kind of exposures were you getting from the meter - what kind of lighting were you using?

Do you know for sure that these things work with zoom (non-prime) lenses? Haven't tried it, myself.
