Beko 21" - no remote, can't switch to SCART

We've managed to render the remote control dead and can't find a way to switch to SCART so we can see the XBox. There doesn't seem to be any smart SCART auto-detect in this TV. No combination of XBox on/TV on sequences bring up the XBox and there is little in the way of control (channel up/down, vol up/down). I rang Beko yesterday and they didn't seem to know either.

The next option is to get a multi-remote for it. Is anyone out there successfully using a Beko with a multi-remote/programmable remote? I've heard Beko can be a bit hit and miss when it comes to these remotes (Beko 'techie' mentioned that this was the case too).

A One For All universal remote control should work your Beko 21 no problem including the AV button. Cheaper ones may also work though not sure about those.

The scart auto-detect only work with a RGB cable FYI. The one that comes standard with the Xbox is just a composite cable going through scart.

Ya need a fully wired scart to make it switch automatically. It's Pin 8 IIRC that is responsible for switching the TV to the AV channel.

A RGB cable is not necessarily a Scart cable. It may also be in the form of component lead. And a component lead will not switch AV.

Yep as the rest said, you need the "advanced scart" lead for the xbox, it allows RGB.

I also have a beko tv and with the scart from the xbox it auto switches to it when i turn it on.

Thanks all. I had an All in One 4 remote and tried the various Beko codes. No dice. Only one of the settings worked and that didn't map at all to the appropriate function buttons. Reckoned that there was a pin in the SCART plug that drives the auto-sensing. Would it be feasible to crack open the connector and wire pin 8 to one of the composite signal pins to achieve a DIY auto-sense?

Or does anyone know if any of those SCART routers can drive the auto-sensing to the TV?

No, that's not possible, as there is no voltage being fed from the Composite cables to power Pin 8 in the Scart socket.

Is the One For All remote you have very old? As I can get the current range to work most 21" Beko's no problem or is your Beko an LCD and not a CRT? I've only known 20" LCD Beko's so I presumed it was a CRT TV you had, and the Beko remote was the long type with a circular bulge at the bottom.

Ah crap. I was picking the wrong remote from the One4All website to get the codes. I've got a One for All 4 Digital but I was selecting the non-digital version. There are more Beko codes when I select the Digital remote so I'll give them a go.

Also, if none of the codes work, there is an option to email One For All with your TV make and model, together with teh remote you have, and they'll try and help you out with other code.

Went to PC yesterday and got an One For All (TV) remote. One of the Beko codes half works. At least, enough to switch to SCART and back. That's all I really needed. The TV is up in the young fella's room at the end of his bed. If he wants to change channels he can get out of his pit :) Or get a long stick.
