    Hey ppls,

Im very new to the whole betting online thing and have been thinking about joining 888.com, i wont be in it for the big money, just something to keep me interested,
I have been looking at the website but it doesnt say much about what happens when i hand my credit card details over, do they charge much? do i transfer money to them? how does it all work?

Any help would be greatly appreciated:)

    hi cwynnes,

for a starters is it just poker that you are interested in? or do you want to bet on other games too?

If it's purely poker that you are after I wouldn't go with 888 and would be more inclined to play on pokerstars than anywhere else. what happens is you download the software, then create an account. Then from this account you will make a deposit from your credit card into you account. It doesn't cost anything to do this. If say you deposit $50 you will see it in your cashier account when you log into you poker account.

Then you can do couple of things, you can play in cash games or single table table tournaments, or multi-table tournaments.

    Cash Games
You can play at levels between $0.02/$0.04 to $50/$100. I'd start at the lower end if I were you :) If you wanted to play in a .05/.10 game you can buy in for anything between $2 and $10/. If you loose you can put more money on the table from your cashier account. If you win money and leave the table, it will go back to your cashier account. (pokerstars make money here by takeing a small percentage from the pots)

    Single Table Touraments
Again there are a lot of different levels you can play at starting from $3+0.30 (the 30c goes to pokerstars). In these games you sit down with 6/9 people and it's a knock out. 1st 2nd and 3rd get money.

    Multi Table Tournamnets
Loads of different levels here also, and a few different formats, but basically it's like entering a game with maybe 100s of people and the top 10/20% get paid.

I hope this helps you somehow, my power of explanation is not strong today, head up hole!

Search for Ste05, he posts here on the poker lobby. You can get $50 free without needing to register your credit card on Party Poker, its not low stakes friendly but its $50completely free so you cant lose.

eg STT's are $6 min but there are low stake cash games in the begginners lobby 5c/10c i think
