Was playing a tournie last night in Balbriggan.

Blind Levels were 500/1000 and i'm sitting in the big blind. next player folds, Next player raises to 1200. everyone folds and its back to me. I look down at QQ then asked the TD why his raise didn't have to be minimum 1000 as that was the blind levels at the time( i know this guys play so i didn't want to re-raise in case he folded so i was trying to get the extra 800 in the middle before the flop) anyway he reaches for his rule PAGE and points out rules saying that he can do that and that his rules are from the SE, i've never played there so wondered if thats true. Anmd if theres anywhere playing this rule:confused:

    Cheers:cool:

emn no, min raise is 2000, 1200 is just a call if he didn't say word raise I believe.

How any td can say thats fine and he is allow "raise" to 1200 is quite unbelieveable really

Another bunch of chancers running a pub tourney without any comprehension of what they are at me thinks...

Pub tournaments like the one above are an excuse for a murderous rampage!!

And TD having to turn to a rule book for something as obvious as that is a shambles and should be told so.How do these fools get away with it?

How in Gods name can anyone think you can raise 200 when the blinds are 500/1000, that is just madness. What sort of "Rules" could he possibly have pointed to in his "page" that said that was allowed...

I'll answer all the nice replies in one foul swoop.........

Me: What kind of raise is that?? The blinds are 500/1000 aren't they??

Dealer: Look its No-Limit Holdem he can bet whatever e wants as long as he matches the blinds!!

Me: Are you sure the minimum raise isn't the amount of the previous bet in this case the big blind??

Dealer: I already said the bet is o.k. its a common misconception where people think the bets have to be a certain amount, like i said its no limit!!

Me: Does no-limit not mean there is no maximum bet rather than no minimum bet?? I'd like to see your rule book for this, i've never heard of this rule in any tournament before.

TD steps in: There you are Mark, BLA BLA BLA (RULES), the bet stands continue. By the way the rules we use are the same as those in the SE!!

Its this kind of thing that make all pub tournies look bad (even mine).

The really sad part of all of this is that the tourney was probably a complete and utter crapshoot and the organisers charged an over the top reg fee.

    Poor.

Ohhh God I'd go mental at this comment, blood boilingly moronic and condescending. How do people that have obviously never played the game before in their life, besides some stupid Home Game, feel they can become a tournament director. Was there no-one else in the whole room who'd played Poker before ...

Fair play for keeping your head, but I suppose having QQ in the hole will help with this.

It was a €75 entry with one re-buy or top-up @ €50, They took about €20 reg per player.

I had a friend on the table and he was backing me up all the way everybody else just sat there looking like this ---->>

After the hand the guy to my left whispers thats crazy, i've never heard thos rules. well cheers for the support during the dispute was my answer to that.

Thank god for the QQ, i won the hand anyway and 3 hands later got Ah Kh up against the same player, this time he had the QQ. Needless to say i flopped an ace. BYE-NOW:D :D
