    Hi guys,

Was over in spain for a week, when I got there I realised I had left my Ipod in the seat compartment on my flight over. I rang aerlingus back home and the malaga airport immediatly to check if anything was handed in, no luck though.

So im back now and wondering if there's anything else I can do? Does my travel insurance cover this and how would I go about claiming?

    Any help appreciated.

Unfortunately, an iPod isn't the kind of thing that makes it to the lost and found. I doubt your travel insurance covers it unless it was "stolen" maybe?

Some underpaid cabin cleaner is probably in possession of it now.

Your chances of getting it back would be either slim or none.

yeah, i think you'll have to let this one go unfortunately... Unless one of the cabin crew finds it and notes the seat number etc, there isn't much chance.

I was reading a book once while travelling with Air France (I know an ipod is a bit more expensive), which i was really enjoying. Left it on the plane, and there was no chance of even getting that back and i was just in the terminal. They said they'd check and send it onto me, but i'm still waiting about a year later :p

I left my PSP on a HLX flight. Never saw it again.

Lost property is a bit of a joke, but then again, it's my own fault for being so careless.

Chalk it up to experience. Chances are you'll be a bit more careful in future. I know I am.

(You don't state which airport - Dublin?). There is a very, very slim chance that another passenger may have taken it and handed it into the Airport Police lost property when they returned home. Stranger things have happened! Give the Dublin Airport Police a call on (01) 8144300.

The problem is that even if some decent person did do that, someone else will simply pocket it anyway.

The airline usually have a company that collect and return such lost property to their owners. We got a camera bag with two cameras back through such a company when we left it on a flight from Sicily to UK. We have to pay a 30stg fee but it was worthwhile as we had very valuable (sentimental value) film in the bag and a set of car keys. Call Aer Lingus and ask them what company collects lost property on their behanf in whatever airport and give them a call. Worth a shot.
