I apologise if this has been brought up already...but did anyone else feel freshers week was really really bad this year. I think the Fresher ball sums it up with its poor line up, in my opinion. I love both director and dave kitt but poor is all i can say

This wasn't fresher week was it? I thought the week with the Iron stomach and all that (Ryder Cup week) was freshers week?
Either way I've been really boring and haven't gone to a single UCD event/club night since I've started and I don't really feel like I've missed a whole lot tbh. The only thing I would have liked to have done was maybe to have joined a team in the Superleague and gotten all the free **** from the societies. Compared to Trinity's week (this week) it was supposed to have been absolute bollox according to my friends anyway.

I would beg to differ.. this is what I did in Lecture and Freshers Week

-Saw Zak Power hypotist absolutely amazing and it was free too.
-Went in the Quasar maze beside the Freshers tent
-Saw the Republic of Loose and the Blizzards
-Went to the KBC Hot Whiskey Night
-Went to the Nancy Cartwright debate and the Hans Blix debate
-Went to the Lawsoc night out in Club 21 after the Blizzards
-Went on a Dail trip with the KBC ending up in a pub and then the Portobello nightclub
-Met Ministers Coughlan, Brennan, Hanafin and Barry Andrews TD
-Went to the Freshers Ball Got in the VIP area on the second floor.
    -Went to the Porn debate

I had an absolute ball.To be honest when you're a first year and don't know many people then you might not have had such a good time like me.

Berkeley next Wednesday, all your troubles are over! What a band!

I don't go to UCD or know it very well, will I be able to pay at the door or should I get a mate to get me a ticket?

Didn't know they were on Wednesday.

You should get a ticket because they would be all sold out.

    A smug sense of self-importance

    It wasn't a tent!!

It was the second floor of Spirit at the Freshers Ball on Wednesday. There was seating and there wasn't any free drink by the way.And it was free to the Students Union because of the Freshers Ball in Spirit.Basically everyone who was there and involved in the Students Union were allowed access.

I thought it was lame this year compared to last.

Yeah compaired to last years freshers week (which was my 1st year) this year sucked a big one! Went to a good few of the nights out, on-campus events and missed all lectures (obviously) so its not like I didn't partake.

Last year was class even tho I didn't know anyone. Then again that was back in the days that I got drunk on a pint.
And loads of those su people got in free to spirit

Thought the Freshers Ball line up sucked, but I've thought that for the last three years so...

But Freshers Week had bungee jumping which is possibly the deadliest thing I've ever done.

Didn't they have that last year though as well?

I spent all my freshers week in the tent/lectures as Im an auditor/final year.
So to make up for it I poped over to trinity

    4 free wine receptions
    Free pub crawl
    Hypnotist
same free stuff from SU & business societies as in UCD
    Tommy Tiernan
    Traffic light ball
    Massive Cheili
    No lectures scheduled that week.

Twas a lot of fun but
    A)No bouncy castles/bungees
B)Less societies and free stuff in general
C)No Iron stomach or milk drinking contests
    D) societes are fewer, smaller and more expensive in trinity

same as the VIP area on any other night so? Find it hard to believe there was no free drink. Commball for example has very juicy perks if you're a VIP

Ah I just got the impression that you were saying it hadn't been there.

I just realised theres only one reason I enjoyed freshers week last year-I had half the amount of lectures that I do now. Nout to do with any society

I dont know why they call it 'spirit' cos its definatly the main thing missing in that joint. Its as dead as adod and theres never any good atmos there. Su nights are ok when your in first year but once you hit 4th year you come a bit too old for them.
