Hi, there are a few of us going to Australia in January 07(mid to late january)for about a year and were wondering where we'd go about booking flights. Basically, Sydney is the destination and we're stopping in SE Asia for 3 weeks to a month on the way over. I'm just wondering from other people's experience, woule we be better off going with a travel agents or booking it online? We've tried USIT, SAYIT, Trailfinders, gohop.ie and australianholidays.ie. Just wondering would anyone else have any thoughts on anwhere else we'd book this holiday. The cheapest quote was for €1,425 was from australianholidays.ie and this includes flights, taxes, insurance and a working visa. It's good value I suppose but if anyone has any more thoughts, it would be very much appreciated

Hi, I'm going late January to Oz for the year. Booked my flights through Trailfinders and found their prices the best after shopping around a bit. However I'm flying Dublin - Dubai, then Dubai to Brisbane. Paid just under a grand for the flights incld taxes which i thought was v. good. Haven't sorted my working visa yet but I've been told first hand by people who've been to Oz not to get working visa from a company...it costs 90 euro to get the visa straight from the embassy. But then i guess you have to sort your bank account and tax out on your own which alot of the companies like visa first do for you...so it depends on whether you want an easy route or not. I've no idea how hard it is to organize this??

I got mine from justsplit.com for a pretty good price but that was months ago.

You can apply for your tax number online, takes about 5 mins.
Bank a/c takes about 10 mins to open, need your passport. Tbh, both of these are easier to do when you have an mailing address

When u book ur flights through a travel agency etc, they can give you the option to get visa, tax, bank acc, sim card etc.. But it is mostly a rip off... Im heading jan aswell and I got my visa through austravel in dublin city and flights.. Tax I did with Visa first and bank I did at hte weekend online :) Sim card ya buy in the shop! Aus Tax number will be issued to you after 10 days of arriving in the country by email ;)
