    Hi

Im traveling to italy for the weekend in november.
Im starting out in Milan on the friday night.
Im then planing to see lake garda on the saturday and then drive onto Venice that evening, stay their that night and all day sunday.

Can anyone give me any ideas on what to see and do etc.
Also is it best to park the car outside Venice and get a taxiboat rather than drive in.

    Any info welcomed. :)

Personal opinion, but Venice is a kip! I wouldn't waste that much time there. Sounds like a lot of driving too?

Sounds to me like your trying to pack too much in,if I were to choose between Milan and Venice,I'd choose Venice.

In answer to your questions-In Milan I would do the following:
    1. Leonardo da Vincis last supper, check the website as during the summer it needed to be booked in advance.
2.Go to the railway station-a mounument of the Fasist era, hugely impressive building
3.Do a city tour.Leaves from outside MacDonalds near the Doumo.
4.Take a stroll through shopping area near the Doumo.

    Lake Garda,
Lots of beautiful towns, but the easiest ones to get to off the motorway from Milan are Desenzano,Pescheria and Sirmione, the latter being the prettiest but also the most touristy but worth a visit nonetheless.

    Venice
Def get a vapperotto or train in.Can buy a day ticket for Vapperetto.
1.Top of St.Marks Catherderal for a fantastic view over the Lagoon.
2.Wander back to the train station following signs for Pizzale Roma.

It does sound like an awful lot of driving,Train is around 3-4 hrs from Milan to Venice with stops on Lake Garda at Desenzano and Pescheria.See traenitalia.com for times etc.You could travel around Milan on the Metro and you won't be driving in Venice.Train service clean and reliable'different prices depending on type of train you book.
    Hope it goes well,

Spent my summer hols there a few years back. Stayed in Pescheria - beautiful town. Sirmione and Verona are well worth a visit.

You seem to be packing a lot into a week-end, my sugggestion is to try the area and return again for a longer period.

Venice is lovely but one day there is probably enough - I know there might be a stinch from the water but still it's the city to be visited if you're in that neck of the woods. Parking overnight might be expensive as I think they're trying to discourage private cars.

Have you considered how cold it might be also shorter days in the Autumn.

    Try fodors.com for more info.

    HTH,
    Enjoy Italy
