Windows and Creative synchronisation problem

    Hi All
I have a new Creative Zen Vision M and I'm having difficulty getting it to synchronise with my Home PC. Now this PC is is fairly crap but it has XP with Service Pack 2 on it. I've installed the Creative Software a couple of times as well and it will not pick it up. It tells me in the media explorer that it is not connected.

when i plug the player in it powers up so the USB Drive does that much. Also when I use the player as an external hard drive it works perfectly.

The player itself is not at fault as I have tested on other machines and it works fine, so it seems to be my PC.

    Can anybody shed any light?
    Cheers

I'm running the same (xp pro sp2/creative vision:m) and I've had no problem with it. Did you follow the installation of the creative software correctly? You need to have the connecting usb2 cable disconnected from the computer before you install the software - it will prompt you near the end of the installation when to connect the cable to the pc and the creative player to the cable.

    Hi Moriarty
thanks for getting back to me

i'm fairly sure that i did, but I 've only just upgraded the service pack so i might try and reinstall the software again.
    i'll let you know
    Cheers

i reinstalled the whole thing again. i waited for the prompt to plug in the player and it powered up. i waited a few minutes before proceeding and the issue was the same.

i got to the root of the problem
in device manager it was coming up as an unknown program
    - i uninstalled it and went to Action and Scan for Hardware Changes

then Bobs your Uncle as they say..
    thanks anyway
