Bankroll question

    Hi guys,

Any advice from you would be appreciated on this.

I mainly play live poker and thankfully have been making a steady (not millions) living from it for the last year or so. I've been playing online also and usually a winning player in SST and Cash games.

I know I've been making the old mistake time and time again. I settle down play tight in some SST and Cash game and I build up a nice few bob and then I do one of 2 things. I either withdraw the money to clear my CC debit or I go and play some stupid big MMT or move up a few levels in cash games and sit down with my full tank and get unlucky/outplayed.

This time I want it to be different. I want to do it right. I'll be honest about my bankroll/finances. I have about 1500 dollars in my online account right now and have about 5k in my live bankroll account. I manage my live bankroll very well and keep records of everything and know what works. But have no idea about my online one.

    My questions are as follows.
    1) should I keep my live bankroll and my online one seperate?
    2) what level should I play in SST and cash games starting with this new ammount. ( i like 2/4 and normally come out a winner but i'll play whatever level u guys suggest)
    3) should i get something like pokertracker or the like?
    4) as i said I need to make a living as well as build a bankroll. How much is acceptable to withdraw as I go along.

Sorry if this all seems a little longwinded but I'm sure you get the idea and some of you have been through this before yourselves.

Any help appreciated on the above or any other suggestions...

    Mac.

    1) Yes I'd advise keeping your live and online bankrolls seperate.
    2) For cash games with an online bankroll of $1500 the max level I would advise is 0.50/1.00 NL, and even for this you're under bankrolled. With a live bankroll of 5,000 the max level I would advise is 1.00/2.00.
    3) I definately would advise getting poker tracker, very good for online cash game analysis and only costs $50 or so.
    4) I don't think your bankroll is sufficient to play professionally therefore I would advise withdrawing as little as possible in order to try and build your bankroll.

    Other suggestion:
If you're going to be playing alot of cash games online I'd advise playing on a site with a good rake back deal as it really does make a big difference when you pay out thousands of dollars each month in rake.

Good luck and hope it goes better than my recent run at the tables
