Overhead Squats helped my Military Press

    I have always been crap at the standing military press, have always found myself making painfully slow or no strength gains in this lift. I have been on a plateau for a couple of months now. Anyhow in the last week I added a new exercise to my regime - the one armed barbell overhead squat with light weight. An exercise which is extremely good for shoulder stability/flexibility as well as for overall stremgth

    Next time I did a military press I felt far stronger and easily broke my previous best by 2 kg. This may not sound like much but when you've been on a plateau and have been pushing yourself hard it is significant.

    Just thought I'd share that. However if anyone does want to try the one arm OHS be very very careful as it is an advanced exercise where good from is essential to avoid nasty injuries

    I know we all hate to hear the word "core strenght" but the OHS does wonders for it, the standing military press is massively core orientated also, so by adding in the excercise it may have improved your core function ( balance under tension ) to a point where you are in effect providing a more stable base for the lift.

    In short, ya got stronger. :D
