Can anyone shed light on this message

The person at XXXxxxxxxxx has no credit and would like you to ring them.
Mesg left at (blah) Ring me, another great service from meteor.

    Sender 50001.

The number is not one I recognise. Is it spam, a lure to get me to phone some Meteor rep? (I'm with vodafone).

    Mike.

Though on O2 myself, the Meteor site seems to suggest that 50001 is the freetext number a person sends a request for a Ring Me message to, so its not unreasonable to assume that the same number is used as a relay, sending it on to you. You, in this case, probably being a wrong number.

Its just a call me message. If you don't know the number then don't ring them back.

I'd take down the mobile number if i were you.

Funny, I got one of those messages also for the first time - on Monday evening at about 11pm. I didn't recognize the 087 number, though (it was also a Meteor call me text).

Thats intriguing, the number I got starts with 353 (the national code) then (0)85 followed by 7 digit number starting with 7
