The fan on my x800 goes into noisy overdrive when I load up BF2, so I think I'll give that a miss.

I knew this was only a matter of time. Delighted to see it tbh. The GPU's sitting idle there much more often than the CPU is and it's got a fair ability to crunch numbers.

you wont need to since it wont be supported in the x800's series of cards. That being said, no fan on my card anyway.

Just FYI...as it stands the program needs the Cat 6.5 drivers to work. Won't run on anything later.
I'll try it when it supports an up to date driver set. Guess in the meantime my CPU will have to take the strain.

    http://folding.stanford.edu/FAQ-ATI.html to download it
By writing highly optimized, hand tuned code to run on ATI X1900 class GPU’s, the science of Folding@home will see another 20x to 30x speed increase over its previous software (Gromacs) for certain applications.

In addition, through a collaboration with Pande Group, Sony has developed an analogous core for the PS3's Cell processor
    ...
GPUs work only for certain simulations.

There is a 6.10 BETA ATI driver that works with the GPU Folding client. It can be downloaded from Guru3D Beta 6.10

Have been giving this a whirl for a couple of days at it appears to eat work units at a much faster rate than just running the normal client. Still uses around 40-50% of CPU time though.

Seems pretty stable and well behaved and the 6.10 driver is running games as well as the 6.9 set.
