Getting a low-level job in media? -- newspaper, radio, TV

    Hey folks,

I'm taking a year out of college (studying computer science + history -- only going into 2nd year), and I'm looking for a job that'd be reasonably interesting that I could work in until next summer.

I've got the idea that maybe a job in some media outlet would be interesting.

But I'm not sure how easy it would be to get in.

I'm not looking to present a show on RTÉ or become a researcher (at the moment), but surely there's monkey work that I could be doing that would pertain mildly to my interests (politics, current affairs, especially), and that my computer skills might help me with. eg. updating the website, typing up articles, proof-reading (too advanced?lol)

I was thinking of applying to places like RTÉ, TV3, Newstalk, the Star, the Sun, Herald, Irish Times, Independent, etc etc.
I know a bunch of them are owned by the same company, but I'd probably have greater success if I applied to each seperately.

Anyways, just wondering what people's experiences are in working in this sort of area. And what are the chances of me getting in with no experience of my own? Any tips on how to get the foot in the door?

Should I email them or perhaps drop in a CV?
