Amsterdam Hotel recomendations please

I stayed in The Globe in August, it's a hostel, not a hotel and nothing special. Rooms were clean and had our own toilet and shower. Location was amazing though, literally a bridge across the canal to the red light district, and about 10 minutes walk from centraal station. It's also pretty good value compared to everywhere else in amsterdam, plus smoking allowed in rooms which was a plus. check out www.hostelworld.com.

Stayed here last year. It's very central and the bar is open 24 hours! Rooms are a bit small but that's normal in the city centre. I'd stay there again.

King of Kings

the kings stays in the Cordial on Rokin.
It's about 5/10 mins walk straight down the main road from Centraal station
