Not really clued in on this but i have a friend that'll be in america around the 17th of November and im thinking about getting him to get me a Wii. I assume there will be some power issues, but i can get an adapter for that. Also assuming it will only run american games, which isn't a problem seeing as i can buy them off the internet but would there be any problems with online play?

Or are there any other issues that might crop up?

    Any advice is welcome,

    Wheelie.

There was some talk on region restrictions for online content, personally I was uncertain enough to just buy the Irish version instead of importing.

Yeah it might be a good idea to not import or you could find yourself having troubles with online content.

I think it's a pretty stupid move considering both the xbox360 and ps3 will not be region locked and leave the locking decision up to the developers.

Yes, you may need a stepdown transformer if the power supply on the US model cannot handle a 230V 50Hz input (it will say on it). If it does you can just use a plug adaptor or change the plug.

Yes, you will need either an NTSC compatible TV (most half-decent sets sold here in the last 5 years or so are), or if you want the picture to actually look good get an RGB SCART lead over here (assuming it will be compatible with a US Wii - they don't use SCART or anything similarly good in the US). A TV with YPbPr component inputs (red, green and blue phono jacks) will also solve this problem.
