Website Ideas

Okay, so I have the general design of the site finished. I now need ideas on content for the site.

    Sections I have so far:

Squad - Details of each squad member along with the team photo. Apps and top scorers will appear here as well.

Fixtures - A list of fixtures and results.

Media - Anything and everything here really. Mark has already suggested the Soccer AM 'Crossbar Challenge' which I think is a really good idea. Photos of team 'socials' will be included here. Also, under here will be the weekly '10 Questions' profile where each week a squad member is picked at random and asked 10 questions which they must answer. Good in letting our 'supporters club' know about the squad a little bit. I'd like to get as much multimedia (esp. video for this section).

Forum - Link to this here forum.

Wiki Page - Link to the wiki page.

Store - Did someone say a 'Boardeaux Megastore' was in the works?

Contact - Contact details for the 'webmaster'.

So PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE rack your brains for anything else we can put on the site.

    Cheers

Match reports and maybe little interview type reactions from the gaffer and a couple of players after each game?

Maybe we could set up a poll for Man of the Match?

Anto, Deco, Jono, Whacker and Micko to give them their proper titles. Sound lads.

I like to think we do our part for the community by providing such entertainment as football games to keep the kids off the away from anti social behaviour.

Alright lads, I'd say cool the jets on the man of the match stuff. Have been there before and introducing stuff like MOM, player ratings, leading scorers & assists etc. just causes more hassle than it's worth.

We lose as a team and we win as a team, that's good enough for me.

THe site looks slick though. Wonder what it'd look like with only one crest on the top (left side)?

I don't see the problem with leading scorers?

If someone plays a stormer I don't think it does any harm to name them MOTM, in fact sometimes its the only acknowledgement of a player's efforts and stops the head going down if he thinks nobody notices...

Leading scorers is just a stat I would've thought, all clubs keep track of that info. Dunno about player ratings and the like, that could get sticky ;)

fair enough, leading scorer is a simple stat so no worries with that. My main point is I could see the next step being player ratings and that's just a bad idea.

We tried it at Parkvale and it caused problems. Coach quickly changed it so that he decided a rating for each player and then at the next training you had a one-on-one with him where you had to give yourself a rating, then he'd tell you his rating and go through it with you, and if you were way off you got a few laps for your troubles. That was a good system but mainly due to the one-on-one analysis of your performance you got from an experienced coach.

So for me Man of the Match is fair enough, though we won't always have one, but as recognition for playing well that's grand. Somebody will play poorly sometimes and public ratings could make their head drop pretty fast so I'd draw the line at that. Anyways, that's just my take, and if the majority were to want it then fire ahead.

    For the record.

    I'm against Player Ratings.
    I'm against MOTM.
I'm for keeping a record of who scores the goals.
I'm for an end of season vote amongst the players for a Player of the Year award.

I'm feeling the same, altho an occasional MOTM for guys who put in a much-improved performance or someone who plays spectacularily well. Just as a way of boosting morale and the like
