PS3 and HDMI V1.3 - Will It Work on Current Flatscreens

    Hey Ho Folks,

I just heard from a good source that the Playstation 3 is to use HDMI v1.3. Seemingly this connection has more pins than the current 1.1 HDMI, therefore making it incompompatible with current flatscreens.

Does anyone have any information on this? Seems crazy!

Tried to find information here, but don't have the time at the moment to go in depth.

They are backwards compataible and I think they have the same amount of pins.

Hmnn I heard that v1.1 was 19 pins and v1.3 was 26 pins or there about, but certainly more.

"a higher resolution version called Type B, has been defined, although it is not yet in common use. Type B has 29 pins, allowing it to carry an expanded video channel for use with high-resolution displays. Type-B is designed to support resolutions higher than 1080p." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI

The PS3 wouldn't be using that.

Its similar to how some scarts have more pins than others. You wont need to worry about it. They arent stupid enough not to make the connections backwards compatible.
