Have a Philips TV about 10 years old.
Some of the stations the colours are fading and the odd time the
pictures go light greenish but when I turn it off and on again, the picture's fine.
    What's happening?

From what you are saying about turning it off and on, and the picture being fine then, the first thing I would say is do you have any large metallic objects (eg radiator) or magnets (eg speakers) Near the TV?
If so ... move em and see how it goes.

Yes, I agree with the Doktor. The green is usually caused by the tube becoming magnetised, and when you turn off and on, the degausser demagnetises the tube again.

If the discolouration was more permanent, I'd say tube is faulty, particulary since it's Philips! :)
