ROTJ no subtitles?

I decided to crack out Return Of The Jedi today as I hadn't watched any SW in ages. It got to the audience with Jaba part and there were no subtitles coming up for what he was saying. these showed up before, I don't know what's going on. does anyone have any advise?

It's been a while since I've seen ROTJ, but are you sure there's supposed to be subtitles in that scene? C3PO is there to translate the important stuff.

I could be wrong though. What are you watching it on? DVD? Any subtitles elsewhere in the film?

(and if it is a DVD, have you tried simply turning on the subtitles?)

Some of Jabbas lines are subtitled, right after Leia rescues Han. Can you see them in that scene?

to doublecheck I looked at the scene where Luke talks to Jaba and there were deffo subtitles there, but not now, and the subtitles were all uncheckable (there is a term for it, can't think of it, it's where they are grey instead of black)

I remember there being subtitles when Luke mind controls his assitent (cause Jabba wacks him and calls him a fool for falling for such tricks)

But cant remember about rest.

Strange. The jabba subtitles play for me (without actually having to turn on English subs that is). BibFortuna's do too.

I'm using the 2004 SE set. Perhaps that's different than what you have.

they are not subtitled for the leia/bounty hunter conversation and are for the bib fortuna bit, thats from the old unaltered VHS

Yep that's the one I have too and am on about. Presuming they're both exactly the same then perhaps it's something to do with the set-up of your DVD player itself?

they worked before. Now I watched them on my PC that time, and I am not sure if I did before, I am positive I watched ANH and TESB, but not so sure abot ROTJ, and I don't recall any subs in either ANH or TESB

I'll offer a daft suggestion. I have a Phillips 32" that has a few display settings like Widescreen, 16:9 etc. I noticed I wasnt seeing any Subtitles on some DVDs I had until I relaised the TV also has a "Subtitle zoom" which resizes the screen again to include subtitles as displayed on the bottom of the screen. Ring any bells?

As for ANH, the scene where Greedo corners Han in Mos Eisley has subtitles.

as for the zoom thing I thought about it at the time, but I don't think I had any zoom functions on
