Ok first time flying over this weekend since May which was the end of the football season for me. With the events happening in England during the summer and me being unable to fly over I'm wondering how strict is the size of hand luggage enforced? I have a new bag since I last travelled because of wear and tear on the old one. The one I have is a Freelander Eclipse trolleycase. It says small 50cm on the tag so would it be ok

Not sure if that fits Ryanairs current policy, but the size restrictions imposed by BAA have pretty much returned to normal. Therefore if it was good enough for last season it should be ok for this season.

There are restrictions on what you can bring through security leaving the UK. If you have an overnight stay and have toiletries, they will need to be binned.

    Ryanair says:
From 0200hrs on the 22nd September 2006, the UK Department for Transport has lifted the hand baggage size restrictions. Each passenger is NOW permitted to carry ONE item of hand baggage up to 10kg with maximum dimensions of 55cm x 40cm x 20cm. These dimensions include the wheels, handles, side pockets, etc.

Flew through Stansted two weeks ago and they were strictly enforcing the baggage size restriction, checking everyone's bag who was queuing before the point they checked boarding passes. Went through today and they weren't as bothered, though they had staff asking people about prohibited items.
