yes good training methods coupled with good attributes produce great fighters :) like i've always said, doesn't matter what its called just how you train!

i'm gonna bet that the majority of his training is spent on conditioning, padword and sparring

He's done a great job of adapting his style and making it work in K-1, those kicks rule. He looks like he's trained his hands a lot harder than most WTF guys (WTF is olympic style right? where you can't punch to the head ?)

    Thanks

He does seem to have the need to go for the big KO with them kicks!

Which cost him points that he's not scoring due to trying to set that shot up.

    But his kicks are class!!

    Hi John,
i'm gonna bet that the majority of his training is spent on conditioning, padword and sparring

    I'm sure he does! :D

Yilmaz is a good fighter who didn't just do WTF TKD, ;) Hes fun to watch in a highlight reel but thats what he is, a jumping, spinning highlight type of fighter with next to no defensive skills. He's actually frustrating to watch as he tends to run away from lads a lot. I think I remember Bang Ludwig ran around after him for 3 rounds a couple of years ago.

I presume this is a follow up from our roundhouse kick debate. This doesn't change, prove or disprove anything other than one individual is a good striker. WTF style kicks are flashy looking, but the thai method is far more economical and far more devastating. More "bang" for your buck you might say. And hey, WTF? Isn't that the full contact "sports" variety of taekwondo?:o

WTF is the Olympic style, but those reverse turning kicks and back piercing kicks are fantastic.

    Barry,

You really need to take that chip off your shoulder casue it must be giving you a bad back thats making you so narky??

This post had nothing to do with that other thread? If It had I would have made reference to it??

I just think that his kicks in K1 comps are worth a mention!! As for the power in them thats another thing, as I don't think that he lands them well enough to do any serious damage! Maybe once in the reel did he KO someone with it? Then in another he lands one sweet and did not drop the guy?? ;)

 I'm rarely narky. I'm merely commenting on the coincidence of a debate on TKD in K1 being followed up by this. Not an unreasonable link I would have said, but clearly not.

Now Sunshine, if you read into my post as me being narky or having a chip on my shoulder, well, thats your business, best of luck with it:confused:

Thats what I thought. It looks nice but I'd say it isn't as effective as just plain old roundhouses and push kicks. It kind of annoyed me watching him jumping around, just get in there!!!
    :p
