Just have a few questions for you guys if you would be as kind as to answer them! -

1 - I have heard that XBOX Live Gold is free for a month when you purchase this console, is this true? And if it is, do you have to provide credit card details before you can try it out?

2 - I have also heard a lot about XBOX Live Market and Arcade, can anyone tell me is any of this free? I know that some games, like Street Fighter and Doom cost xbox points or something? How much do these breakdown in terms of euros? Does it also cost money to download demoes aswell eg The Sonic Demo?

3 - People have discussed about connecting to XBOX Live through Laptops via Ethernet cables, anyone done this successfully or even can it be done?

    Any help would be appreciated

    1. You do get a free month of gold membership when you first sign up. I'm not sure if they might need credit card details or not though for age 'verification'.

    2. There is a lot of stuff that you can download for free from the Live marketplace. There are some free gamerpic and themes, demos are free and there are quite a number of game trailers appearing at the moment due to X06 being on.
There are some extras for games that you can get for free as well, although most of them cost MSpoints. The Live arcade games that you can buy mostly cost 400 or 800 points and 500 points cost €6 if you buy them via the console. gamerpics and themes range from 20 points upwards.

    3. I've heard that it is possible but think that it involves some level of black magic inorder to setup the ICS. If you can either cable directly to your router or use wireless then you will save yourslef a lot of hassle.

The cost of playing that sonic demo is your will to live.

You don't need to enter and CC details to get your free month of Live, just an address.

Its hardly black magic. All thats required is a crossover cable and a few clicks of the mouse.

I like to throw in an extra question cause I'm tempted by the recent dead rising etc.

    and this:
I have a Media Centre PC with a 250Gb hard drive connected to my Xbox 360.

Is it possible to buy a core and use your pc as a hard drive for your x360 instead of of dishing out for an internal one? (and still take advantage of all the features of xbox live etc.)
