Hi all. I have no idea how the xbox360 works with xbox games.
This is what i think happens. Can anyone correct me.

Only certain xbox games work on the 360
You need a prem360 (with harddrive) TO USE XBOX games
You download emulators to run with the game from microsoft

    Help please!!!

    Yes, yes and yes.

There is only one download that you need that will then enable most of the old xbox games that your likely to want to play though, they have been making updates to that though as they add more games to the compatibility list though.

    Yes, here's the list:

Yes, you download the update, you need the HD for backwards compatibility.

It downloads the update you need, or if you don't have internet (or can't put your 360 on Xbox Live), then you can get a CD with the update(s).

Do i need an Xbox live membership if i just want to download the emulators? I have no internet access in my home for onlinbe play, so i just want the codes to play older games. Is that free? Called Smyths and they had no idea..........

But on the plus side the do sell large boxes of lego.....so........it kinda evens out.

You don't need Gold Live membership to download the updates, but if you've not got broadband then you'll need to get the update by other means. I think it might be available for download via a PC somewhere but I'm not sure where, sorry.

Any account has free XBL silver, you don't have to pay for that. XBL Gold is not needed for that, just for online play really.

To play the older games you need the updates though, they're not codes (as in numbers). I don't think you can get it online on a PC and burn it to a CD, but I haven't checked (my 360 is online anyway). You can get a CD from Microsoft though, check the page I linked before and it should have some more detail.

There are people selling the CDs on Ebay though now I think of it, so maybe you can get the update online and burn to CD. Hmmm.

Just had a quick look on xbox.com for you and this page has a link where you can download the BC update to burn to CD from. Or there is a link to order from MS on that page as well, but there is a charge for that aparently.
