Dentist - happy customer - recommending !

    Hi all,

once in a while somethings need to be shouted from the rooftops, and an EXCELLENT dentist who is also VERY reasonable is one:

I recently went to a dentist in Arklow with horrendous tooth-pain - they wouldn't touch it .. "needs a specialist" ... I asked for a strong pain-killer .. he charged €40 for the privilage of the prescription!!!!! ... anyway, got quotes down south (from said specialists) for 1 x root canal and 5 fillings .. almost €2000 ....

I looked on the web and saw recommendations for a practice in Belfast called "Cavehill" ... so I called them and got fitted in for an emergancy visit .. I took the train up this morning, met an extremly friendly staff and a super nice dentist who made me feel really at ease ... I had **dreaded** the thought of the root canal ("little shop of horrors anyone??"), and was feeling physically sick over it .... I HATE mouth injections .... so, when he announced "ok, there will be a little scratch" I braced myself for a damn sore injection .... no, it WAS like a little scratch, NOTHING like the nightmares I had gone through in the past ... he stopped every few minutes to check I was doing ok ... explained every step of the way .... super super job. (they collect and drop you back to the station by the way, so no getting lost in a strange town)

For the past few nights I have been in desperate pain with the damn tooth ... this evening I sit here with ZERO PAIN ... in this age of the "irish rip off", I am going out of my way to highly, highly recommend this dental practice.

Oh and the really good part? .... all the work is getting done for just on €700!!!!

Check them out and spread the word Cavehill Dental Care - http://www.dental-implants.org/ :D

    allen.

I like my dentist too, he tries to entertain me, reassure me, check on me, etc... but he's bloody well expensive, and does unnecessary things like give me braces for no useful purpose...and goes on at least 5holz a year...!

I'm glad you got your tooth sorted out and I have Cavehill bookmarked just in case I need somrthing done, which I fear I need very soon....

    Thanks for that!

I was told by my dentist the last time I went to her that I'd eventually need to get 3 crowns done.. Hoping my teeth will last a bit longer as I dread the thoughts of the pain & the expense, but I had been contemplating doing the same thing as a lot of people recommend going up north!

Anyone any idea how much crowns are here in comparison to up there? I really have no idea as I normally only need a filling here & there!

I'd guess that it would be a lot cheaper "up north" for your crowns. but I hear it's dirt cheap in Budapest. I'll need some crowns done soon and I'll definitely consider going to Hungary....
