Shane and I are planning to do an "Irish elope" - problem is that we are just over 3 months from the date we want to get married. The church have agreed to let us get married there and we have the papers in but they are saying that we have to get our papers done locally? Do they have to be done more than 3 months in advance also? We did almost get married a few months ago in the same church but have worked through the problems and just want to have an intimate ceremony for the two of us and 2 witnesses.

    Hiya,
    It depends on the church.
The registrar needs 3 mths notification and they send this to the church.
Check with the church when the want the other stuff.

Thanks, we got the registrar thing in on time, the local church are being fine, it is just the church that I am getting married in that are being akward. Have just been diagnosed with a very serious form of cancer though so they should be putty from now on (have oesophageal cancer). My fiancee has already done his papers, I just have to do mine.
