    Hi,

Our dish is on the back of our house and was connected to a telly in the room directly below it. Now I'd like for that point to be moved up to my bedroom. I've already got permission from the girl in the room next to me to run the wire (neatly) through her room if needs be.

I rang up a private contractor and he quoted me €100 to do the job. WTF? It'd take 20 minutes at most as the guy who installed everything including the dish only took 30 minutes.

I looked at it and considered doing it myself but I would more than likely break everything. Can anyone recommend anyone to do the job and/or give me an idea of what €'s it should cost? I would rather not get rode if its all the same :p

    Danke

Do you want the wiring to go straight from the dish to your room,
or can the existing cable be extended from its current position through to your room?

Either way, how many walls/obstacles are there?
    Concrete walls/Plaster board, How many?

The price would be dependent on all of these.
Did he quote you without seeing the setup, if so, I'd say he was covering himself.

It may have taken just 30 mins but a contractor has to drive to and from your house, usually when I do a job like this I also check the dish alignment so its pretty much the same time frame as doing an installation. Also bear in mind that 21 or 12.5 % goes straight to the govt as VAT and public liability insurance is throuigh the roof. I know it may seem expensive but taking all the factors into account it does not sound over the top. If you are on a budget though get some CT100 cable, F connectors and silcone sealant and run the cable yourself, its not too difficult.

Hope it works out for you

Why not run a new cable directly from the DIsh into the bedroom
