Ipod Video and Wired Car Kit

I am currently looking into getting an Ipod Video either 30GB or 60GB.

Also I am looking @ getting a wired car kit or moreso a cable that connects directly to the cd-changer output and from there I can both charge and use my Ipod.

I have had a look at a few model's so far but one of my questions is, if someone has one is. Does the steering wheel remote act as one of the new control's of the ipod.

Also I have a Pioneer DEH-7400MP headunit with the IR Remote, would it be easy enough to get a kit for this.

And finally what is the sound like, does it cause any issues with the ipod, like overheating or freezing etc.

    Thanks in advance :)

Pioneer does an ipod adapter for about €85 or so. You control the ipod from the headunit or remote as you would a CD changer. I have one, it works really well.

The Pioneer Model is the CD IB100-2 some shops are still stocking the older model (CD IB100)
I've checked it out with our engineers. (I work for Pioneer) and depending on the car steering wheel, you will get most of the control's to work. Like up and down will search folders and left and right will search tracks. there might not be a play button on the streeling wheel. Volume up and down will work as will.

There hasn't been any reall testing done on the Heating/freezing of the unit. With all products there is a chance something could happen, But i think you would be ok.

We have the CD IB 100-2 listed at €99.99 retail. the older model is €89.99

Up/down changes playlist not "folder", at least with my headunit. You will get track name, album name, or artist name (configurable) on the headunit display. I believe different headunits behave slightly differently.

On the sound, it's sort of pre-amp so you're not affected by the distortion that you sometimes get from iPod's. The EQ settings on the iPod affects the sound that's sent to the headunit, though.

I have never had any problems with it and I use it daily. I just stick the iPod in the glovebox and forget about it.

    Thanks Guys...

Just two questions about the Pioneer adaptor :

1.) I have a US Model of the Pioneer DEH-7400 MP,should I just be able to plug this unit into the back of the headunit and not require any further adaptors etc ?

2.) I have the Pioneer SR-100 Steering Wheel Adaptor, is this compat. with the unit for changing titles etc.. and when I press source, would this be in Aux or CD-Changer.

Thanks for all the info guys really appreciated.

    Ps...

Anyone know were I can get those metal pins(hex keys) so I can remove the headunit from the dash :)
