    Drench Handicap Hurdle (4yo+,74-102) Winner £4,765.52 - 2m1f172y GOOD

At 4/1, Grange Melody is a nice each-way bet to take this Handicap Hurdle. Although carrying topweight of 11 stone 7 this should not be a problem. On her last time out when faced with similar oposition, she won while carrying 11-6 , over a slightly longer distance of 2m 2f distance (also at downpatrick) when beating Craughwell suas (also running in this race today).

Her recent form has been excellent, with todays Jockey T.P. Treacey winning on her before. She is good under pressure, and keeps battling to the finish.
Trainer Fogarty has a decent enough record at Downpatrick over the past 5 seasons (30% wins).

The reason I am doing an each-way bet is because of an interesting horse who has been trying out the hurdles recently (Night Warrior) Some of you may remember him as a decent All Weather horse, and he has done well over hurdles in Galway recently, so he is an obvious threat, and I'm looking forward to watching him run today.

That said, Grange Melody is proven over the course, distance and conditions, and hopefully this experience will prevail.

Bet: Grange Melody each way (4/1)

Wayne, I've been informed that Night Warrior is well fancied in that race today. The information isn't so strong that I'd tell you to cancel your bet but it's strong enough that I'm on at 8/1.

Yeah, he had been a worry for me alright which is why I took an each-way bet on Grange Melody. I remember him form the AW racing. Should be an interesting race.

Another one ticking all the boxes for me today is Greek Renaissance (5:00 Salisbury)

Again, another topweight in a handicap, but I believe the 9-7 over 6 furlongs won't hold him back at all. Incredible form of late, likes the distance, good jockey, good trainer...... Really head and shoulders above the rest I reckon. The price of 8/11 is a bit too short for me, so I've left an order for evens and hope it gets matched (I doubt it will though).

I see theres a stewards enquiry in the last race at Downpatrick. Any chance the places will be reversed or shall I throw away my docket now?

Amended result, Pighead. Not often you get that in Ireland.

    Night Warrior placed 3rd.

Good stuff Crumbs. I placed that bet online with Stan James. Is there any chance that they won't pay out on amended results?

The amended result is the official result, so they have to pay out on it. Steak for Pighead tonight!

Anyone who backed the demoted horse however, would lose out unless the bookie paid on "double result" (which most do anyway).

Won't be sending Miss Piggy to the butchers to get the steak in just quite yet. Greedy Pighead had Martinstown in a Super Dooper Accumulator with 3 other football teams. We could be eating smash and dried gravy yet.
