I don't know if this is the right forum or not but I'm sure someone will let me know if its not.

    Here goes:

I'm a big fan of snip but it looks like its days are numbered. Whats a good legal site (not iTunes) to download music in Ireland? I want something like snip in that I want to pay them a lump sum and download out of that. I don't want to rent my music and end up losing it when the subscriptions end.

    Any suggestions?
    Jaqian

<snip> isnt a legal mp3 site, its just makes you pay for it to make it look like it is, but as far as a good mp3 site youre not really going to get better than iTunes, its got by far the biggest selection of music of any of the legal sites

I know but I'm asking for (legal) alternatives here. Besides I don't own an iPod (don't like them either) and I think the iTunes software is so much bloatware.

I just want a site I can pay for the music and download it easily. What sites do ppl use here?

Highly unlikely that site is legal. http://www.pro-music.org/musiconline/tracker-region-europe.htm lists two legal Russian download sites and both seem to offer music from independent labels, like emusic.com. If a site offers MP3's without DRM from a major label, then it's very unlikely that it's above board.

I use emusic.com, iTunes or just buy the CD's. emusic is music from independents only but I usually find enough to fill my monthly quota of 35 tracks for $10.
