Not sure but take a look at this thread located in the Cork City forum under Region->South->Cork City. You should get some ideas from that. Good luck.

I never knew how expensive it is to get a pc repaired and some of the people I spoke to today (In computer repair shops) didn't sound too knowledgeable of the whole IT area. He even gave me a "professional" opinion today that me HD is gone and all me info is lost - all this over the phone and quoted €295+ vat for repairs - I'd nearly buy a new one for that!

He even wants me to drop it into them for that price!!!!
Would that sound about right or is he screwing me:confused:

Hmm not sure if he is correct or not. What happened your computer? Some of us might be able to help or give you some tips.

Can you describe the problem you are having with the pc and then we can tell you if you are being ripped off, so far only " your friend " thinks your hdd is gone?

I just heard advertised on the radio today this company,
    http://www.corkcomputers.ie/
Had a look at the website, they seem pretty good, lots of services etc.

Id say explain your problem in detail here first because as ruu said there is a chance that people on here can help you!

    Hope this helps,
    ab

Edit: This place even collects ur pc and drops it back!

I was working on a project when I got a blue screen with all codes on it. It said to restart the pc bla bla bla but when I did the power comes on and I can see Dell then every thing goes black and nothing else.

I know the name for the dell screen is Bios but thats as far as I can go pc speak.

Doesn't sound like your hdd is gone though, sounds like a corrupt file in the operating system which needs to be fixed, should be easily fixed.

    Hi Guys

Thanks for your help, John from Cork Computers called out today had a look at my pc (I told him I was really stuck for it)- what ever he did he got it working in about 15 mins... he told me he charges 65+vat an hour so he spent the rest of the hour scanning for spyware & virus's and told me how to keep my pc spyware free & a coupe of tricks with excel!

He knew what he was doing and I would recommend. He is after spending a fortune with RedFm for his ads and said word of mouth is his main advertising.
    From my mouth "www.corkcomputers.ie"

Glad you had a good experience and got it sorted out anyway. Certainly pays to get a second opinion. :)
