I’m hoping to setup satellite tv for a boat on the Shannon. Hopefully it would be something I would setup on the dock at night and take down in the morning. Firstly is this possible? . What equipment would i need apart form the satellite?. Roughly how much would it cost and, finally how long would it take to setup each night do you think?

Thank you in advance for any help you can give

A reciever capable of 12v operation
a dish (Contrary to usual advice a SMALL one would be better)
    an lnb
    cabling

A suitable mount for the dish

There are special nautical satellite mounts... active gimbals or something.
At sea roll is a problem even in harbour. esp at a Marina. But with Shannon best plan is to stop and use a tripod mount on the bank. 60cm dish.

If you get experience and have a decent satfinder, always level tripod with a spirit level and never change dish tilt about 5 mins. Otherwise somepeople have spent days...

If the dish tilt is correct ON LEVEL mount just point approx south east and wiggle East / West and you will only get sky, as the others need the tilt re-adjusted.

You'll need a smallish but sturdy dish for this, as it's gonna be adjusted daily. Might be an idea to change some of the bolts for wing bolts for ease of adjustment.

Barry Electronics in Killybegs are a company I know that sell satellite equipment for sea vessels (some sort of dish inside a weather proof globe. Dunno hwo much such a dish setup would be though.
