Drop Phone subscription

Does anyone know if I need to go with someone like blueface to get my current landline ported to VOIP.
I have wireless broadband installed, and want to disconnect my landline but it looks like I have to take out a subscription with blueface to get my landline ported?
Its only inbound calls - family, friends, etc that I am caught for as I can make all outbound calls on skype or Voipcheap.
It really annoys me to have to pay subscription for the phone.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

In the short term, sign up for a free 076 number at www.freespeech.ie. That's a local call from anywhere in Ireland, so you can have your family/friends call you on that number. This will give you the opportunity to to decide whether inbound VoIP is satisfactory for you.

(www.freespeech.ie doesn't support the porting of existing numbers to their service).

Broadtalk has a "pay as you go" service that provides a free local number, and their FAQ says they support number porting, but there have been a number of posts on this forum saying that Broadtalk aren't interesting in low volume residential business.
