Surface mail from US...

Anyone ever had stuff shipped by surface mail from the 'States?
I won some items from a guy in California at the start of August, who instead of shipping them economy airmail, decided to stick them in a container (even though it saved maybe $5  )
Still no sign of it, so sent an eMail to the seller (whom I trust, to be fair) and he reckons any where around 8 weeks....I have nothing to gauge this on since I always used airmail.
So assuming the ship didn't sink en route, anyone give me a rough date of when i might extpect the package (small to medium sized box)

I have had stuff sent twice by surface mail. Once nothing showed up at all and the other time it came in about a month.

That's....reassuring. F*ck me, I could understand if it was something that couldn't go airmail.
Better show up since I'm already outside the dispute dates with paypal/ebay...

Twice - a small heavish box took exactly 3 months,I actually had given up/forgotten about it when it turned up.
EDIT I was warned that it could take up to 90 days in both cases.

Second time only took 10 days and the item - a fairly heavy book - turned up at the house in a US Postal Service mail sack !

I think the craic is with surface that they wait till they have a full container of stuff for Ireland or wherever before they send them all together.

Yeah sounds about right....currently sitting at 60 days exactly and no sign.

Wouldn't be so bad if there was some rudimentary form of tracking, hell even a rough guess....just have to play the waiting game.

I have had it take up to six months. Shame the dude didn't just use low budget airmail. That's been taking less than a week lately.
