I cant even imagine the sort of insurance quote you're going to get :( Give Aon a call asking for a quote on a cg125 (its group 2, all group 2's should quote the same) and see what they say - be sitting down for this.

I don't think you researched this enough. Look at this link

    http://www.oasis.gov.ie/transport/motoring/provisional_motorcycle_driving_licences_in_ireland.html

You'll find it hard to get an enduro style bike under 11kw. As far as I remember the TDR125 is a bit over that.

TDR125, and the varadero xl125 are both group 2

they're both 15hp (11.2kW), so yea KTRIC, dunno if he'd be allowed on either (though tbh the 4 and a half grand insurance quote I'd say he's gonna get is gonna be prohibitive enough)

mm, you could get them restricted though.. lol, the very notion :p

65% of all scooters sold in Ireland in 2004 didn't get taxed or insured due to the high insurance costs for 16 year olds.

Its grand and dandy saying you can afford a bike but paying for insurance is a completely different kettle of fish. I could easily seeing you get a quote for 4.5k.

I'm 27 with a full licence and I paid €1200 this year for a group 8 bike, so take this into consideration when you're getting into bikes.

I'm not trying to turn you off , but the cost of motorcycling in Ireland is crazy and not everyone can afford it.
