I was due to fly on a flight to london on a one day return ticket. The flight was delayed by two and a half hours. I would have missed the reason for the fligh. I then told the customer service rep and they gave me an address to send the info tofor a claim. I made a claim for all charges I had incurred.

They replied that i could not get a refund on my ticket because the ticket is non refundable no mention of the other charges that i had incurred.

What can i do and what am i entitled to, if anything.

    regards

Under EC Regulation 261/2004 there are certain statutory rights for passengers on delayed flights. The amount of delay determines the compensation entitlement. For 2.5 hrs, you would only be entitled to meals/refreshments and a couple of phone calls.

There can be an entitlement to a refund when you decide not to travel but this only kicks in when the delay is more than 5 hours or overnight. Also, the airline may escape any liability if the reasons for the delay constitute "extraordinary circumstances".

Don't suppose your travel insurance allows for compensation due to the delay?
