Are there any shops in Dublin that demo Sky HD, as opposed to the usual split SD signal feeding fifteen TV's?

Your best bet is to go to a retailer when there is a match being played, or over the next few days when the golf is on, to see a proper demonstration of live action sport. This is because there isnt many HD productions at present.
I was in DID in Blanchardstown or Drogheda recently (cant remember which) and I saw the cricket live in HD on 2 screens. I was impressed, but the dearth of content and other factors is prohibiting me taking it up.

Sony cente today in Galway had Ryder cup on Sky HD. Presume this is the norm in Dub stores too?

The ones near me don't seem to have it but I found a Power City yesterday that does have Sky HD in all its glory and the picture quality is exceptional. I'm surprised they're not all using it as it surely highlights the benefits of HD Ready sets.

A TV shop near me had a Philips "HD demo source" on one TV, the rest of the TVs had poorly distributed "Chart Hit TV" which is a sub VHS quality channel on Sky driving all the sets via aerial socket.

The salesman also claimed all the sets had 1080i resolution as they have "HD Ready" logo. In fact the only set with an HD picture was a Philips 32" LCD with 1366 x 768 resolution. But since it is a little small for HDTV except in a very small room, maybe it doesn' matter. We have the same HDTV LCD in work and it is one of the few LCD TVs that gives an acceptable picture on analogue RF source or SD Satellite/Terrestrial via RGB. Still poorer dark shades and pastels than my 340 Euro CRT, no matter how you fiddle with contrast and brightness.

For ordinary TV really you are better buying a 990 Euro 32" HD LCD than a non HD 32" WS LCD. The improvement for ordinary TV is substantial.

A sony center I visited did not have decent video on ANY TV. Perhaps all driven with RF and contrast & Colour too high
