Got me a 7 night stay in Jamica (aieeeee) on the horizon. What do I need to know? What to do, see, avoid, you know the drill. Who's been, and what do you know????

All I know is don't get a tattoo there. If infection sets in due to poor hygene, their hospitals suck.

Don't let them braid /bead your hair. They use the same comb on every customer w/o washing it. Head lice anyone?

That's all I've heard from a friend who goes every year.

Jamaica? I've stayed there a couple of weeks. A two class society. The mostly rich (or temporily flush with cash) tourists hang out in restaurants and shops by day and in the hotels with walls and security late nights. Most citizens are poor and live in poor digs. The interior of the island is very impoverished, should you leave the tourist traps along the coasts. Aside from these differences, all the people I had met were polite, and some were real fun! Lots of parties! Grand music! The water is beautifully clean and clear, and a grand swim whenever the mood strikes you, day or night.

Would not recommend walking alone at night in the cities and towns. There is a crime problem, mostly at nights. Also there is a high risk of HIV, should you be so inclined.

Also its part of their culture for all tourists to wear one of those rasta hats...

Where are you staying.. Kingston.... Montego Bay?

They have a lot of places which are all in, kind of, price includes everything, such as food drink etc and are totally enclosed.

As a previous poster said... Don't go wanderin around too much on yer own.....
