    What model coupe?

I don't have a Jap barge to trade but an old Mercedes always gets my interest (not that I need another one at present, just being nosey).

YOU may not consider it to be a Classic, but it certainly will be, and at €3250 I'd reckon its terrific value !

Maybe its too cheap and you are scaring folk away !

    Where is it advertised ??

Looks OK going on the picture and not a bad price. You might be right though; too modern. Even though the 230 is a reasonably economical engine, its size will scare off many people.

It's at that age where it's too modern to be considered classic/interesting and too old to be worth anything to most people who want a modern car.

That looks a great car at that price. I assume it's a good runner?

Tax would be a b*tch but you could probably get classic insurance as a second car.

thanks for responses she was 4500 in the beginning then i began to reduce ,was in last 3 issues of buy and sell and is on donedeal which isnt a bad site but she just isnt attracting a sale ,the interior is even better than the exterior,it drives as straight as an arrow and does the dublin commute from the midlands when required, she needs a tune up but brakes and all the rest a1, she drives as smooth as anything shes cheap because no tax or nct and i want something different im beginning to think its the start of a long relationship with this car though!! and to the guy who said shes not a classic i dont really agree !!why well lets see (audi quattro made to 91) (bmw 6series made to 89)(citroen cx made to 91)(fiat x1/9 made to 89)(jaguar xjs made to 96)(lancia delta made to 94)(porche 944 made to 93) ok that still doesnt make it a classic but i consider all these classics/investments

Having worked on cars for years, I have to say that your Mercedes looks excellent - judging from the pics.

I suppose that (at present) she is a "borderline classic" - i.e. not quite old enough to qualify for classic insurance, but still cheap enough for somebody to bag themselves a bargain 'future classic'.

Have you considered contacting the classsic japanese car importer in Meath. His name is Tom Fee (Don't have his ph no). I saw a Toyota Crown which he had at a classic show in Enfield a few months ago. Perhaps he may consider a trade-in for a Crown like the one he had at the show. (My scanner has just packed up so I can't post a pic.)

nobody is likely to buy it without NCT.

If you had started this post in April/May you might well have had a buyer - me!

    Mike.

thanks mike ah well pity, as for the nobody will buy it without nct ,well i buy perfectly good cars without nct all the time and i certainly wouldnt leave a bargain behind over a piece of paper and while im at it its only ran out and if it had a current one you wouldnt get this for less than 4k and anybody who has an eye for cars would see its not an nct failure type of car on inspection

Probably a bit new for you but there is a first generation Toyota Camry with a pre 87 reg for sale on the side of the road in Rathowen (on the N4 near Edgeworthstown)

not sure about a camry //doesnt have to be a jap id consider a swop at this stage once values were similar, i love the merc but never again!! my mk2 granada estate sold faster than this and she was described as a good interior!!! however i am starting to notice a glitch in my buying tastes, on my list of purchases have been a talbot solara/citroen xm/ and yes i was that man that went for the 2.9 xj6 ,only 2wks ago i stopped myself buying a citroen cx estate ,i thought the merc was a better resale bet when i got sick of it but all the above and other bangers i bought throughout the years sold quite easily, ive got the bug at the moment so she has to go !!but there she is on the drive smirking at me

Recently I saw a laurel in tipperary. It was in a car lot near tipperary town.
I also remember seeing a Laurel estate from I986 in the cork area being used for commercial work. As for the Crown I remember seeing a pre 86 regd crown up to about ten years ago and an 87 D crown Japanese spec but probably sold new here.

The Crown and Cedric, which is something similiar to a Laurel, are still built, only for the japanese market, but for the Taxi and commercial markets. There is also a Nissan Crew, built for the police and taxi market, all featuring 80s styling.

This is where most of the Irish built Toyota Crown hearses ended up, in fact I heard from someone it was the last known one. What a waste, I know they had rust problems but they looked very nice. Surely someone some where could have saved one, I know I would have if it came my way.:(

Nice-sounding examples of Laurel and Crown in B&S recently if anyone's interested.
