    This makes my blood boil.

"Lets put Corks new Park & Ride facility in a stupid place"

They're putting it in the red triangle apparently. What a brilliant idea, putting it on the interchange of the N8 and N25, which is badly congested as it is and will get worse once 700 houses in glanmire are built, once the Sarsfield & Bandon roundabouts are done and once Corks new North Ring is built.

Sorry, but there are far better places for it than this.

    Fools :(

Actually I think this is a good place to build a park and ride as A: it will take traffic off the road and B: in case you didn't notice its right next to the Cork Commuter Rail network (Mallow - Cork - Glounthaune - Cobh / Midleton). According to the Cork Suburban Rail Feasibility Study a Park and Ride station will be built here. A perfect place for a park and ride right at the heart of the N8 and N25.

First off, you'd have to hope the Midleton line and the increased frequency ex Glounthaune with the combined services makes a serious dent in the traffic flow on the N25 eastside if the roundabout isn't to be even more manic.

Second - is the P&R aimed at people coming from the Dublin road? I'd say it's aimed more at local traffic in Glanmire/Riverstown since there is no direct access at present to that land off the roundabout, but rather local roads. A feeder bus from the Glanmire estates seems like an idea to me.

Third - a truly ambitious approach would be to rebuild the Glanmire Road roundabout to the west so that it spanned the railway line. Reclaim the land the eastern side of the river outlet and bridge or better yet cover the outlet, push the car storage area to the river bank. Build a station halt starting from the western end of the rail bridge. Now you've got one hell of a P&R.

I belive you would have access from the Old Road which is accessable from the new road......can't be 100% on that though

Its a fun deal to get to the old road from the new road... would make the roundabout much worse and would be desperate for new people unless they knew the roads and unless the signing is perfect ( ).

And yeah, that glanmire roundabout. The most pointless roundabout in the world.

    GSJ plz folks.

    Grade separated Junction.

You know, slip road for the offramp, flyover with a roundabout on top. Usual Dual Carriageway intersection for say, a town.
