playin last night in the fitz €50 double chance and there is a hand thats bugging me, im pretty sure i make this play every time but just interested to hear if i am totally wrong to have even considered making the laydown.

there was about 220k chips in play and i arrived at the final table with 6.4k after being card dead and witnessing a few people go out quickly to reduce us to 9 so obviously its gambling time. im in seat 2 so 1k bb first hand so i decide to go all in blind, there aint a whole lot of play left for me at this stage anyway. i get a call from AT and i flip 64, 6 flop and im up to about 13.5k. sick but what can i/he say i had left it to lady luck. i steal some blinds and grind away for a few rounds when i get all in again for about 18k with the same guy. i was on the button and looked down at AK, pushed as was the norm for me at this stage and the same guy who had doubled me before called with A8, my hand held and in very few rounds of the table i have gone from one foot out the door to 2nd in chips with about 37k.

i think we were 7 handed at this stage and the money was pretty heavily weighted to first 3 so i feel i can sit pretty and bully a bit when 'it' happens. im in the sb still stacking chips and not really looking at the action, hand after the AK. it folds around and the button pushes really quickly for about 24k. i have just come back from the dead and there are 2 short stacks so there is a few hundred euro prize money diff for the next few places. i look down really not wanting a decision and the first card is A clubs, and the 2nd K clubs. now normally i dont even consider this and reraise but 1. i didnt like it for some reason and 2. i had just accumulated all of these pretty chips and i wanted to spend at least _some_ time with them, fondling them and the like.

like i said this is _always_ an autocall for me but for some reason i thought about it for a min really not liking it. sure enough eventually i call and he flips 22. there is something pitiful looking about 22 beside AK sooooted on the table but sure enough it held and crippled me, eventually finishing in 5th for the grand sum of €150. given the way i had gotten the stack i know i shouldnt have even thought about it but does folding here even cross anyone elses mind? he could have AA, KK or more likely an underpair, do i need to flip a coin here.

im not at all annoyed about how i played it or any other hand last night for that matter but still, can folding here ever be justified?

I can't find what the blinds were but this is an automatic call, if you had hit an A and knocked him out you would be thinking nothing of it. Some people like to fold here because they think you are racing at best; they are idiots.

think about all the times that he would do this with any A or any K that you have dominated.

He could be pushing any A or even a decent K from this position so often (asuming the blinds have increased a bit from 500/1000) that the chances of you been dominated aren't worth worrying about.

AA and KK are a very small likelihood i think, so you're either up against QQ or a lower pair, or Ace-something, so, i would prob call.

I agree with RT. This is a definate call. You just got unlucky not to hit,Most times here as the other posters say, youll find yourself dominating your opponnent.

You cant really complain. AK suited is in fact a marginal fav against 22
