    Hi,

Could someone please help me I would like to change over to the BT €45 package for line rental broadband etc., I am with Eircom and still use dial up. I would like to know about the set up and it's a home computer and was wondering what kind of modem I would need and whats the best option and will BT supply this for free with this package and most important is it easy to set up?
    Thanks.

BT will supply the modem and all the necessary equipment you will need, free, but they will still own it. It's very straight foward to set up and comes with easy to follow instructions. When you ring to order, make sure you get your username and password.
BTW if you are on one of the Eircom dial-up subscription packages, don't cancel it until you receive your next bill.

I hope you have better luck that I did so far. I applied almost 1 month ago for that package and to be honest if I had a choice again I would just stay with UTV. Customer service and sales in BT have to be the worst bunch of clowns I have ever had to deal with. So far I have filled in 2 migration forms and have had 2 rejections ... first one because there was adsl on the line???? They would not give me a reason for the second and I am now on my third attempt

you should have TRANSFERRED the ADSL using a Transfer form first and then migrated line rental, did you TELL them you had ADSL ?

you need only cancel flat rate dialup if you have it danielle and good luck. cancel on the last day of the flat rate billing period

If you had DSL on the line already, then eircom rejected the transfer, not BT. Eircom won't allow BT to take over a customer that already has DSL from someone else, unless the customer provides a transfer authorization form.

yep I filled out the broadband transfer form first about a month ago but for some reasong whoever was looking after it in BT took it I was a new connection and it faild because there was adsl on the line. So I filled out the transfer form again but it was still rejected. I got an email from utv stating that they could not release the broadband transfer until I either purchased their modem for €30 or returned it to them. So rather than be without broadband I purchased their modem. Then got an email from utv to say my line was free to transfer and I had 30 days to fine a broadband provider.

Don't sign up online. Ring sales and order over the phone (1800 923 924). Their online ordering system was/is notoriously unreliable resulting in incomplete/lost orders.
In answer to your questions, you have a standard line (PSTN) and you don't need any USB adapters unless you order the wireless modem/router. It's €40 extra for that but the standard modem is free.
